HISTORY:
Fish Haven Farm is a family-owned and operated business that has provided freshwater fish for stocking ponds, lakes, and streams since 1981. Our public facility on Route 96 in Candor, New York opened in 2001 to create a centralized location for fish sales and distribution. Fish Haven Farm is a supplier for Soil and Water Conservation District programs in New York and Pennsylvania. Through the years, Fish Haven Farm has added several pond care products to assist our customers in improving pond water quality. As dealers of Kasco Products and Outdoor Water Solutions, we sell a variety of electric, wind, and solar-powered aeration options.  Fish Haven Farm is happy to provide customized information and recommendations to individuals, lake associations, or other organizations.     
In 2023, former owners Rick and Pat Musa sold Fish Haven Farm to local residents and friends, Alex and Andrea Weisz. It continues to be a family owned and operated business. With an emphasis on recirculating aquaculture systems and local fish raising, they strive to incorporate more resource efficient and eco-friendly practices to pond fish stocking. In addition to the 10 species, pond products, aerators and services provided in the past, the new owners have added the sale and installation of docks to their inventory.
Alex Weisz, new owner of Fish Haven Farm, periodically worked with the original owners for over 20 years. Alex received a BS in Natural Resources (Cornell University) and a MS in Environmental Management (John Hopkins University). He returned to his hometown of Candor, NY to be closer to family and pursue business endeavors. When not managing operations, logistics and the coordination of initiatives at Fish Haven Farm, Alex enjoys overlanding, Crossfit and running.
Ane Rivera Weisz, co-owner of Fish Haven Farm grew up in Mexico. She earned a BS in Environmental Science (State of Mexico University) where she was involved with native salamanders (axolotls) and pond life. She moved to the US, married Alex, and later obtained certification in Pond Management for Rural and Farm Pond Owners (Penn State).  In addition to her various roles of customer service, marketing, and hands-on help at the fish farm, Ane is an enthusiastic traveler, beginner potter, and amateur climber.
Noah Cantella, Fish Farm Manager, is a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill with an AAs in Wildlife and Fisheries Technology and a BS in Wildlife Management. From nearby Apalachin, NY, Noah is actively involved in the fish health, water testing, aerators and dock installations, as well as customer communication for the fish farm. An avid outdoorsman, Noah is a committed fisherman, hunter and trapper.
     ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY:
     Fish Haven Farm strives to reduce its environmental impact              and promote green business practices.
  • The natural waste from our facility is sent through a series of ecological filters before returning to the environment.
  • Tank water is stored in a silo, using less energy to pump the high volume of water needed to support our thousands of fish.
  • Natural pond ecosystems, free from harmful chemicals are encouraged. All of our pond products are non-toxic. Pesticides and herbicides are not sold.  We prefer biological control of pests and weeds with aeration, beneficial bacteria and combinations of fish species that work in conjunction with one another.
  • Our fish species are common in the northeast and encourage healthy ecosystems.

PLAN YOUR VISIT

Our building is open to customers on Friday and Saturdays. We can sometimes schedule appointments for other days. 
Although we may be on deliveries during the week, we check our phone messages and email daily and will respond in a
timely manner regarding pond and aeration questions.

We are located at 978 Owego Rd (Rt 96) in Candor, NY. We are 5 miles north of historic Owego, between the Iron Kettle Farm and Power & Paddle.  Look for the white picket fence and the sign along the road. Visit other nearby businesses on your outing including:
